July 8th - 5th day walking

It's 3:17 PM- we just arrived at our Albergue - 12.95 miles from Marinhas to Viana do Castelo.

Day started at 6:30 am.  Up and out for coffee then on the road by 7.  Our hike today was through towns and roads, then through the hills and forests. Over a river or two and several hills.  Very beautiful areas and well kept homes.  Made a few stops for snacks, lunch, and cold drink.

John found a few blisters on bottom of toes, we did some mending and a blister stitch.  My left heel is bothering me, more stretching will help.

Today's Albergue is run by the Catholic church, in the church compound. Has about 60+ "beds" and it was almost filled to capacity. John was in room with 2 others, I was in room with 3 others (all men who spoke no English).

Now about 4pm:

Really looked forward to the shower, but....it was freezing cold, NO HOT water.  From one extreme to the other.  I know I didn't get very clean, but it was better than nothing.  But do need a long warm shower soon.

Now about 7 pm

Did our normal routine, washed clothes, hung them to dry and then out for dinner.  We made decision to stay another day in town.  We both need a recuperate day.  After dinner and John's nap, we booked a room at hostel for tomorrow night.

Tomorrow will be relaxing day, looking forward to it. My feet are sore and appear to have a heat rash.

With three men in my room, I am hoping my earplugs work.  I keep opening the window and one of the young men closes it.  Not compromising on window, it stays open.

9pm - Naproxen and to bed.

It was a good day, hills a little hard, but good.
