July 18th - 11th walk day

We left Albergue about 825, on our way to Caldas de Reis - 6.9 miles.  Leg was swollen quite a bit day before and this morning too.  Started without the compression sock but on our break, I put it on.  Trail today was mostly gravelly path through vineyards and farmland.

Really enjoyed walk - arrived at Hostel A Senda about 12:15. We checked in and went to get drinks.  I've developed 2 blisters on my left foot - big toe and 2nd toe.  My big toe is quite calloused and needs attention but the blister is in same spot, care is needed.

We found place to get wine and Sangria while we wait for lunch, served at 1:30. Enjoyed the relaxation time til lunch.  Then we walked further into town.

John wanted to meditate so I went exploring.   Went to the church - Igrexa de San Tome Becket, built in 1890 of solid stone and beautiful wood structures inside.

Then went to drug store to get a file / Emory board for me callouses and toothpaste.   Went across the street, sat on bench and worked on my feet.  Kind of an odd place to do that, but it needed to be done.

I walked back to the church, just to sit.  Emotional experience, it was peaceful.  A service had started - of course in Spanish - I sat through some of it.

I found it very odd how peaceful the church felt while sitting.  Calming and relaxing - I started thinking about my Dad and Cory.  My Dad had strong faith, truly believed he was going to heaven. (If there really is a heaven, I am certain he is there.) Cory at one point in his life was going to church when someone invited him.  I encouraged it, even though I don't believe in God, hoping it might bring him to a better place with new friends and maybe less partying. However, the church thing didn't last long.

Later, we went back to our room, showered and did laundry and then nap.  We got up about 545, 2 hour nap, really needed it.

Ended the evening with relaxing dinner and people watching. Got back to room about 930....end if day.
