After "resting" for 3 consecutive days, we left Redondela at 8:40 am. Headed to Arcade - 2 Albergues there and at 4.35 miles, I assumed it would be fine.
After about a mile, I got into a rhythm and it wasn't too bad. It felt so good to get into a routine of walking again.
Walked through town to the end into fields and small roads. It was a nice walk.
We arrived in Arcade - 4.35 miles at about 11 - found out the albergue was full and so was the 2nd one. Both are private albergues and reservations can be made. We'd been resting when we found out from the manager, so we packed up and headed out.
Got to the main commerce area to get groceries and to find hotel. We located one and called, no English spoken, so John headed there while I searched on line. Right after John left, I located a hostel in other direction and made a reservation.
When John returned, we decided hostel would be best, so we headed out. 1/2 mile down the road and we'd arrived and got checked in. Hostel is brand new, old building refurbished to meet the demand of Pilgrims. It was very nice, about 26 beds, 2 showers for men and women, very well designed.
It was well worth the extra walking. By the time we arrived to hostel, we'd walked 5.5 miles. My leg is not 100% yet, maybe 60% - but it's tolerable.
We now need to make reservations for tomorrow. The closer to Santiago we get the more difficult accommodations will be to get.
It's been a really good day. Relaxed with evening meal with wine and sangria, new people to chat with...I am fortunate to be on this journey.
