July 13th - Rest / Travel Day

We decided yesterday to take the bus from A Guarda to Vigo.  We got up, packed, ate, and walked across street to bus stop.  By 8:50 am we were in Baiona to transfer to a bus to Vigo.  5 minutes later, we were on new bus to Vigo, total cost €10.60.

Got off bus at McDonald's to make decisions about lodging etc.  The places listed in the book are more expensive than stated, we decided to take taxi to Redondela. Taxi was €25 and we were dropped off at Albergue. By taking bus and taxi, we cut 45 miles off our walk.  Probably 5 or 6 days.

The issue with my leg is not gone, it is better, but mostly because I only walked 1.4 miles today, as of 7:45pm.

At the albergue,  a long line had already formed by the time we had arrived at 12:45, and check in would be at 1pm. Twelve kids plus about 20 others.  Albergue has 44 beds, it was close, but we made it, only €6 each.

This gorgeous albergue is Casa de Torre, a 16th century manor tower house converted by the community into an albergue.  It has massive rock construction and is sight to see.

Got our beds, top bunks adjacent....not fan of top bunks but that's all there was.  We wondered a little outside to find food, best place was next door.  Came back to albergue after dust had settled to take showers and wash clothes.

This albergue actually has a washer and dryer in each shower room.  We hand washed our clothes, but splurged €3 for dryer.

It rained for the first time on this trip.  Just as we were getting off the bus at McDonald's a huge downpour and then while I was writing a wonderful thunderstorm with shower.  Air is cool and there's a breeze.

It was a good day today.  I am hoping my leg continues to heal and I look forward to another day of walking
